"Valais and the Mediterranean", an exhibition of photographs by Léonard Gianadda. From the end of June, a representative selection of about thirty pictures will be displayed along the Vissoie Chemin d'Images, around the Chapelle du Château

Valais and the Mediterranean (1952-1960)
Photographs by Léonard Gianadda

Connected to Italy through his father and Martigny and Anniviers through his mother, Léonard Gianadda has multiple roots. In his youth he was a photojournalist, and crossed continents in search of new places and new faces, his Rolleiflex and his Leica always slung around his neck.

In less than ten years, he took thousands of photographs, most of which were never developed. Recently rediscovered and put on public display, they reveal the curiosity and humanism with which he viewed the countries through which he travelled and the lives of the people he met..

A representative selection of about thirty pictures will be displayed along the Vissoie Chemin d'Images (art trail), around the Chapelle du Château. They will create a dialogue between two worlds, Valais and the Mediterranean as they were in the 1950s

Exhibition created by Jean-Henry Papilloud and Sophia Cantinotti, in conjunction with the Fondation Pierre Gianadda and Jean-Louis Claude, and with support from the Anniviers municipality
