The Bread Trail

Saint-Luc - The "Bread Trail" is an educational trail that teaches us how cereals were cultivated and about traditional period buildings. It is a fun way of understanding our ancestors’ way of life.

The “Bread Trail” educational trail brings to life two different elements of the Anniviers heritage – the cultivation of cereals and traditional period buildings. Set out along the route, the information panels cover the following themes :

 

  • Farming and the land
  • Crop rotation
  • Cultivation of breadmaking cereals
  • A voyage to the heart of an Anniviers ear of corn
  • Hemp
  • All stages of barley cultivation and use
  • Traditional building techniques
  • Traditional buildings
 

The panels are illustrated with maps, old photos and various sketches to aid understanding (in French, some content also in German)
