Medieval-style garden / Briey
Isabelle Main offers tours of her mediaeval-style garden where plants long known for their medicinal properties are grown in an idyllic setting.
The use of both wild and cultivated plants for culinary or medicinal purposes was common practice in Valais until the middle of the last century. After a period of neglect, there is now a renewal of interest in plants and their many properties.
Arranged around a well, the garden contains about fifty medicinal plants. You will discover the uses – mediaeval and modern – of these plants. You will also learn how herbal distillates are made and receive a small bottle of floral water to take away with you.
