After all that effort, the reward… the summit of the Illhorn, a 360° panorama, and a breathtaking view of the entire Rhône Valley! This spectacular view alone makes the hike worth it—and you’ll soon be tempted to do it again. Again and again.

| Useful information | Follow the toboggan trail/Illhorn for about 100 meters; then the trail turns right into the forest. After a short initial climb, the trail crosses the alpine road. At the intersection, head right at first, then quickly take the path that climbs to the left into the forest (summer hiking trail), which leads to L’Etable (First Alpine Pasture). Cross the sled trail and take the summer hiking trail back into the forest. As you emerge from the forest, below the Veyras Ski Club cabin, head uphill toward the cabin and cross the trail (a road); continue climbing toward the Pas de l’Illsee, where you’ll cross two more trails (two roads). Then ascend in a zigzag pattern to the Pas de l’Illsee. A final climb along the ridge leads first to the top of the Illhorn ski lift, then to the summit itself (2,716 m). |
