1. Grimentz: Rando Parc - Marsh

This "easy" trail at Rando Parc is perfect for getting started with the joys of skinning: the elevation gain isn't too steep, it's outside the ski area, and there's a snack bar at the finish line.

Useful information

The hike starts in the upper part of the village of Grimentz. Leave your car in the village (paid parking) and take the free shuttle buses to Les Amis de la Nature.
From the “Route de Beauregard” bus stop, take the forest road and follow the marked trail that crosses the clearings before entering the Avoin Forest. This is followed by an ascent of about 100 meters through the forest (hiking knives recommended). A short detour to the Pierre d’Avoin is recommended: this 10-minute stop offers a chance to enjoy a lovely, unobstructed view. The hike then continues through various pastures to Le Chèquet, then along a levee, before the final climb to reach the Etable du Marais snack bar. Once you’ve taken off your skis, all that’s left to do is settle into a lounge chair and savor the view of the Moiry Dam and the surrounding 4,000-meter peaks.
