St-Luc/Tignousa - Chemin des Planètes no. 20

The Chemin des planètes, which stretches from the funicular arrival at Tignousa to the Weisshorn Hotel, is a scaled-down representation (1/1,000,000,000 for distances and 1/100,000,000 for sizes) of our Solar System. You will therefore have to travel 4.5 km on the path to discover the last planet (Neptune) represented by a 50cm sphere. Further on, the path becomes a balcony trail on the flanks of the Nava peaks. You will discover the Halley comet and the dwarf planet Pluto there.

Useful information

Walk to the François-Xavier Bagnoud Observatory located 100m to the right of the funicular arrival. Then take the Chemin des Planètes leading to the Weisshorn Hotel. 20 minutes after the hotel, on the Sierre-Zinal path, you can climb onto Pluto and soak in the magnificent view.
1.
From Pluto, continue the hike to the Nava alpine pasture and return to St-Luc via Copaté and the Prilett (3h - medium difficulty).
2.
Extend the walk to Zinal. The last descent to Zinal from the Barneusa alpine pasture is quite steep. It is possible to return by postal bus from Zinal to St-Luc (3h30 - medium difficulty).
3.
Return to St-Luc directly below the Weisshorn Hotel via Gillou, the Valais Center (balance point), and the Prilett (1h30 - medium difficulty).
4.
Return to St-Luc via the Girettes. Shortly after the Toûno/Chiesso alpine pasture, turn left (2h - easy).
5.
Return to St-Luc via the Cascades. Just before the Toûno/Chiesso alpine pasture, turn left (2h - difficult).
