OFXB's 31st anniversary celebration - Exceptional conference: Thomas Dolivo - Apollo 16 visits Descartes

This special conference highlights one of the great scientific explorations of the Apollo era.

On April 21, 1972, the lunar module Orion of the Apollo 16 mission landed in the highlands near the Descartes crater on the Moon.

John Young announced: “Houston, this is Orion. We are at Descartes.” A key moment in lunar exploration, followed by millions of enthusiasts around the world.

During the mission, the astronauts explored the surface with the lunar rover and brought back samples that revealed the true, non-volcanic origin of the lunar highlands.
