Masterclass - Is good Swiss wine necessarily young?

Grimentz

A joint masterclass, in which the 2013 World’s Best Sommelier, Paolo Basso, joins forces with Louis Le Conte, sommelier to Anne-Sophie Pic, to explore a selection of fine Valais wines together. Two exceptional palates, two schools of thought, one terroir put to the test.

The world’s greatest wines are often appreciated by wine lovers and connoisseurs precisely for the way they evolve over time. Swiss wines, on the other hand, are often described as wines best enjoyed in their youth. But can Swiss wine improve with age? Absolutely!

Our Swiss grape varieties can be surprisingly expressive after a few years of ageing. And tasting these wines again after some time may well surprise you in the best possible way!

Of course, different wines call for different food pairings. But what should you eat with aged wines? Rediscovering old bottles in your cellar could be the perfect opportunity to surprise your guests with some unexpected and exciting pairings.
