Epicurialpes - A Tribute Evening to the Fribourg Terroir

Grimentz

Four chefs, two regions, one shared devotion to the mountains. For this exceptional evening, Valais welcomes the terroir of Fribourg to Espace Weisshorn, bringing together Didier de Courten and Franck Reynaud from Valais alongside Pierrot Ayer and Victor Moriez from Fribourg.

At Espace Weisshorn, the Epicurialpes festival gathers four chefs, two terroirs, and one shared conviction: that mountain cuisine is best expressed through dialogue between regions.

Representing Valais, Didier de Courten welcomes guests onto his home ground. A leading figure of Valais gastronomy, long awarded two Michelin stars and 19 Gault&Millau points at Le Terminus in Sierre, he has overseen the culinary offering of the Grimentz-Zinal ski lifts and Espace Weisshorn since 2023. Alongside him stands Franck Reynaud, awarded one Michelin star and 18 Gault&Millau points at the Hostellerie du Pas-de-l’Ours in Crans-Montana. For over thirty years, he has championed a sunny cuisine deeply rooted in the Valais terroir, from Icogne eggs to wild alpine herbs.

On the Fribourg side, the evening tells a story of culinary succession. Pierrot Ayer, Michelin-starred chef at Le Pérolles in Fribourg for nearly three decades and a major figure of the Fribourg terroir — from Vacherin AOP and Bénichon traditions to his devotion to exceptional produce — has recently passed the kitchen on to Victor Moriez. Trained in some of Switzerland’s finest brigades, the young chef has continued this legacy since February 2026 alongside Julien Ayer. Together, they embody the identity of a house in motion.

Together, at Espace Weisshorn, they create an evening where Valais mountain cuisine and the great Fribourg culinary tradition enter into dialogue — between Vacherin and Sérac cheeses, between the Rhône vineyards and the landscapes of Gruyère, between transmission and continuity.
